TAUS operates in the language data space offering the largest industry-shared repository of data, deep know-how in language engineering and a network of contributors around the globe. Our mission is to empower global enterprises and their service and technology providers with data solutions that help them to communicate in all languages, faster, better and more efficiently.

To this purpose, we have launched the Human Language Project (HLP), a crowd-based data services platform. HLP engages local communities of native speakers around the world to build and curate language data sets on our dedicated online platform.

The role:

We are launching a Speech Data Collection project in Australia, and we need a local recruiter to build a community of Australian English speakers for our project and help collecting their data on site whenever necessary. 

The speaker's community needs to equally cover different demographic groups.

A TAUS Local Data Collector is an independent contractor, our cooperation will be regulated by a project-based agreement.

Main tasks:

  • Recruit the necessary speakers based on the required demographic attributes

  • Help collecting their voice data on site if they need assistance (recording happens on our online platform)

  • Process cash payments to speakers who need assistance in performing the recording task

  • Bring your own unique ideas on improving and managing our communities based on your knowledge of the culture and the locals

Requirements:

  • Experience with building local communities or community management

  • Good coordination skills (time management, flexible attitude)

  • Fluency in the English language (written and spoken)

  • Available to help speakers needing assistance in performing the recording task

  • Friendly and patient in face to face interaction with potential speakers

  • Creative mindset to find the best recruitment strategies depending on the demographics requirements

  • Knowledge of the area and the local culture

  • Available for a period of a minimum of 3 weeks, depending on the recruitment speed

  • Located in Australia
